About
Ships a Comin is a short film that shares the experience of African-Americans celebrates Afro-futurism.I was given complete creative licence on this project, inspired by the powerful words written by my client Ebony Gilbert. Together we created a wonderful work of art which went on to receive many global nominations and awards. I absolutely loved working on this project as the poem resonated with me, as I visualised the words I produced sketches which were then made into a storyboard that guided the animated visuals.

"I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Asher on an animated project that
encompasses the traumas of slavery and a future of liberation. My process included
interviewing countless creatives and studying their past projects. This task and its
subject matter were challenging to tackle, especially depicting it in an eloquent yet
powerful fashion via animation. However, Asher stood out for her initiative, her
creativity, and her ability to not only capture my vision, but to improve upon it."
