ABOUT

During the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic I was inspired to write "Grey Sweater". The global lockdown was a time of introspection and healing for me personally, and from that - this project was born. Grey Sweater explores the how in a society where rape-culture is prevalent, the victims/survivors of sexual assault become the scapegoats. The poem opens with, "She wore a grey sweater, she should've known better", which is a juxtaposition as she wasn't dressed provocatively which by the standards of a patriarchal society would warrant her assault, yet society still blames her.
